京都御苑 唐破風鳥居

The Itsukushima Shrine, an auxiliary shrine in the Kyoto Imperial Palace Gardens, is one of the "Three Rare Torii Gates of Kyoto" along with the Mikura-no-yashiro Mitsubashira Torii and the Banshi-sha Torii.
It is said that Taira no Kiyomori transferred the deity from the Itsukushima Shrine in Aki Province to Tsukishima in Hyogo Prefecture for his mother, enshrining her together with the deity.
Later, when Ashikaga Yoshiharu, a Muromachi Shogun, entered Kyoto, the torii was relocated to the residence of Hosokawa Takakuni, and in 1771, it was moved to Shusui Pond within the Kujo family residence.

It was said to be common on Mount Mikami in Shiga Prefecture and is also known as Mikami Torii or Miwa Torii after the Miwa Shrine.
