萩山神社

The Hagi-yama Shrine, located on the western side of Takamori Town, has a path that climbs a slope overlooking the town.
It was established in 1183 by the Matsuo clan, who enshrined Suwa Daimyojin and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu.
Until the early Edo period, Suwa Shrine and Hachiman Shrine stood side by side.
Later, in 1913, the shrine merged with Kojin Shrine from the lower shrine, resulting in the current arrangement of three shrines.

At the end of the long path is a hip-and-gable roof worship hall.
Behind it, the main shrine is the Suwa Shrine, flanked by Hachiman Shrine on the left and Kojin Shrine on the right.

萩山神社

Suwa Shrine is a plain wood single-bay Nagare-zukuri style.
The front columns are square, and the main building columns are round, with simple bracket complexes and omitted middle supports.
The front features ancient styles, including high, decorative elbow brackets, wooden noses, Ebi-koryo (lobster rainbow beams), and flower brackets on the main beam bundle.

Hachiman Shrine on the left is the newest of the three shrines.
It is a single-bay Nagare-zukuri style, with modern influences seen in the extended head beams, decorative cuts on the rainbow beams, and highly curved Ebi-koryo.
The main beam bracket features unusual designs, with some red and colored paint still visible.

Kojin Shrine on the right is a single-bay Nagare-zukuri style, fully colored.
The main building uses simple bracket complexes, with decorative brackets only on the front.
The eaves are decorated with repetitive small beams, and the side railings are supported by inserted elbow brackets.
The porch columns are round and connected by rainbow beams with wooden noses and continuous brackets.
The middle support features decorative brackets, and the main building is connected by Ebi-koryo, with repetitive small beams decorating the eaves.
