Ogouchi jinja

Ogawachi Shrine, originally known as Hachiman Shrine, was renamed Ogawachi Shrine during the Meiji era.
Located in the Higashiminowa district on the east side of the Tenryu River, the shrine is surrounded by fields and has a clear view of the surroundings.
Encircled by cedar trees, the lively sounds from the nearby kindergarten can be heard in the background.

The shrine complex includes an irimoya-style worship hall and an office building next to it.
The main hall is housed within a protective structure.

The main hall was constructed in 1808 and is considered an early work of Takumi Tatekawa's second generation master, Tomimasa.
The wooden nose (kibana) at the front of the pillars is carved with lion heads, with elephant heads on either side.
The large brackets (tesaki) feature basket carvings of chrysanthemums, a specialty of Tomimasa.
The side screens (waki-shoji) are decorated with pine trees and birds.
The young leaf patterns (wakaba-mon) are small, and the overall decorative carvings are restrained, giving the structure a clean and uncluttered appearance.
