長岡神社
Higashiminowa, Minowa Town, Kamiina District
Minowa Town's Higashiminowa, across the Tenryu River, is home to Nagaoka Shrine.
Situated on a scenic slope, Nagamatsu Temple stands just behind it.
The entrance features a stone torii gate, followed by a wooden Ryobu torii gate as the second gate.
The shrine grounds are expansive, with the main hall situated at the top of a high stone staircase.
The worship hall stands in front of the main hall's protective structure.
Before ascending the stone steps, the shrine office is located at the back of the grounds.
The main hall is a rare two-bay nagare-zukuri structure.
Built in the late Edo period, it features the craftsmanship of the Tatekawa school, with an eaves karahafu added to the front.
Most parts, including the pillars and carvings, are unpainted wood, with two-step kumimono supporting the structure.
The carvings of waves and plovers on the struts and the extended pine tree carvings between the kumimono exemplify the mature style of Tomimune, making it a renowned shrine structure.
