松島神社
9987 Matsushima, Nakaminowa, Minowa Town, Kamiina District
This shrine is located near JR Iida Line's Inamatsushima Station.
It is nestled within a residential area with narrow surrounding roads.
At the entrance stands a stone torii gate, and directly ahead is a large worship hall with an irimoya roof.
The worship hall is adorned with a large shimenawa (sacred rope), and behind it, the main hall is housed within a protective structure.
The main hall, housed within the protective structure, was built in 1781 by Yoshizaemon Ariga, the second-generation master of the Ushikubo school. It is a nagare-zukuri style building with a shingle roof and unpainted wood.
The front features both a chidori-hafu and an noki-karahafu, with futatesaki kumimono (bracket complexes) and dragon carvings in between, making this a highly decorative shrine from the late 18th century.
It is the only example of Ushikubo architecture in Minowa Town and is designated as a cultural property.
