五郎姫神社
Takato Nagafuji,Ina City
Gorohime Shrine, located in the Nagafuji district of former Takato Town, stands in the mountains a bit away from the villages along the highway.
This area was the territory of Morinobu Nishina in the 16th century, and several places retain the name Goro Mountain.
From Tsue-tsuki Pass leading to Chino City, entering the village of Kurita, you can see a Myojin Torii on the western mountain.
It is impressionably difficult to find among fruit orchards and house roofs, and the approach path is very hard to identify.
Looking up from the narrow, sloping approach path built on the slope, you can see a wooden Myojin Torii.
Passing through the torii, a long stone staircase leads to the shrine building surrounded by cedar trees.
Next to the gabled worship hall are several smaller shrines.
The main shrine is housed inside a covering building and can be seen through the lattice windows from the outside.
The main shrine, an Ikkensha-Nagare-zukuri with many three-dimensional carvings.
It features a roof supported by brackets, with pillars intricately carved with dragons, and guardian dogs at the base of the stairs.
Many intricate and imposing carvings can be seen on the main shrine, including on the rainbow beams and gable walls.
