先達八幡社
Sakai Sendatsu, Fujimi Town, Suwa District
Hachiman Shrine, which enshrines the tutelary deity of the Sendatsu district.
Nearby are the remains of Sendatsu Castle.
In 1528, when the Takeda clan invaded, they turned an existing mansion into a castle, which remained under the Takeda clan's control until the Battle of Nagashino.
After the castle was demolished, it became Hououzanyokusoji Temple, which still exists today.
The small shrine grounds feature a single small Myojin-style torii gate.
The entrance is located on the north side of the shrine building, which faces west.
The gabled-roof worship hall with curved eaves is followed by a small covering structure housing the main shrine.
The main shrine, built in the late Edo period by Tatekawa Washiro, is a small, intricately carved building in the Ichinomiya style.
While detailed information about the interior is unavailable, the building is noted for its elaborate carvings.
