壺井八幡社
9052 Yamada, Tamagawa, Chino City
Tsuboi Hachiman Shrine, located on a slope surrounded by rice fields, with a lush shrine grove.
It is believed to have been established as a guardian deity when this area was developed.
In the dimly lit shrine grounds, various stone enclosures of different sizes are placed, and only the wooden pillars and the main shrine's roofed enclosure stand out in the dark.
There are three shrines inside the roofed enclosure.
The central main shrine is an ichinomiya-style nagare-zukuri with a thatched roof.
Smaller shrines are placed on either side.
Carvings of hermits decorate the side panels, and the wooden eaves brackets feature carvings of Chinese lions and elephants.
The intricate carvings on the rainbow beam under the eaves, depicting pigeons on a pine tree, showcase the excellent craftsmanship of the Tachikawa school.
