小山八幡社
Furuka, Achi Village, Shimoina District
Koyama Hachiman Shrine is located in a cedar forest on a sloping area surrounded by rice fields. About 1km from the shrine is the first torii gate. At the entrance to the shrine grove stands a torii gate with a nearby handwashing pavilion and a series of stone steps. It is a peaceful place where the sound of the wind rustling the cedar leaves can be clearly heard.
The main hall is housed within a protective structure behind the worship hall, so its shape and style cannot be seen, but the roof visible from the gable end appears quite old and weathered. Both the worship hall and the main hall are made of plain wood, giving the shrine a simple and calm appearance.
