砥鹿神社

Located in former Ichinomiya Town, Toga Shrine is the ichinomiya of Mikawa Province. The main shrine is situated on the summit of Hongū Mountain, with views of Mikawa Bay, Mount Fuji, and the Alps. It has been a sacred site for centuries, protected as a prefectural natural monument. The shrine was established around 700 AD as the chief protector of the Tokai region. The entrance features a large stone torii gate, leading to a path with a wooden torii and shrine gate.
The south side features a single stone torii gate, a shrine gate, and a drum storage tower. The shrine grounds include auxiliary shrines dedicated to Kotoshironushi no Mikoto and Takeminakata no Mikoto, with numerous lanterns donated during the Ebisu festival. Adjacent is a smaller shrine dedicated to Hachiman, enshrining Hondawake no Mikoto. Toga Shrine's main hall, rebuilt in 1963, is enclosed, lending a bright and spacious atmosphere to the shrine grounds.
