大麻比古神社
13 Itano Hirotsuka, Oasa-cho, Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture
Known affectionately as "Owasahan," this shrine is the Ichinomiya of Awa Province.
It enshrines Oasahiko no Kami, the ancestral deity of the Inbe clan, who developed Awa Province.
During the era of Emperor Jimmu, the Inbe clan entered Awa Province and advanced its industries by producing hemp and cotton fabrics.
Sarutahiko no Okami, initially enshrined in Mt. Oasa behind the shrine, was later incorporated into the shrine at some point in history.
The first torii gate is a large, red Myojin torii.
As you proceed along the long approach lined with stone lanterns, you reach a stone torii gate, and the shrine grounds open up.
The worship hall (haiden) is a hirairi irimoya-zukuri style building.
The eaves at the front are adorned with a karahafu gable.
The main hall (honden) behind the worship hall is a nagare-zukuri style building with three bays by two bays.
The roof features five katsuogi (decorative logs) and outward-facing chigi (forked finials).
Apart from the gegyo (decorative ridge-end tiles) on the gables, there are no prominent carvings, and it has no side screens or verandas, giving it a calm and simple appearance.
