Sugouisobe jinja

It is said that the deity Sugaishi no Kami, who was enshrined in the Imperial Court, was transferred to Kaga in 585 when an epidemic broke out.
Originally enshrined as the third shrine of Echizen Province, it later became the second shrine of Kaga Province and was known as Fukuda no Sho, the territory of Kitano Tenmangu, indicating a strong belief in Tenjin.
It is also one of the places of origin for the Saito clan, and many shrines were transferred to Mino as the clan’s deity.

Passing through the stone Myojin torii at the entrance and proceeding up the stone steps, there is a shrine gate built in the Edo period.
Built in 1824, this gate was constructed by Yoshijun, the seventh generation of the Yamaue Zen’emon Yoshiaki lineage of temple carpenters from Kennin-ji style.
It was built with contributions from the feudal lord of Daishoji and townspeople, mobilizing master carpenters from both Daishoji and Kaga domains.
Originally roofed with tiled shingles, it was repaired and re-roofed with copper plates in 1930.

The shrine building features a worship hall with a chidori gable at the front and a main hall with three bays behind it.
Both buildings have copper plate roofs and a subdued design with plain wood, lacking prominent carvings.
The shrine grounds also include six subordinate shrines, including the Sugawara Shrine.
