六孫王神社

Located about 10 minutes on foot from Kyoto Station, this shrine was established to enshrine the mausoleum of Minamoto no Tsunemoto, the founder of the Seiwa Genji clan.
In spring, the shrine grounds bloom with vibrant flowers.
It is said that Tsunemoto loved peonies, and the flower became the shrine's crest, symbolizing the flower gardens that once extended to Saga.

Upon passing through the stone Myojin Torii gate at the entrance, a taiko bridge leads to the shrine gate.
The current shrine buildings were constructed in 1701 by the Edo shogunate.
The main shrine is connected to the worship hall, forming a complex shrine structure.
While the decorations are not extravagant, the shrine is designated as a cultural property for representing the style of mid-Edo period shrines.
