Takamori jinja satomiya

Takamorisha Shrine's Satomiya is located in the Akaiwa district near the border between Nakano City and Iiyama City.
The settlements on the northern side of Nakano City are located at the foot of Mount Kosha, which is a symbolic mountain of the region.
The Akaiwa district where Takamorisha Shrine is located is part of this area and is a center of local faith.

The shrine grounds are surrounded by cedar groves. The path from the vermilion torii to the shrine is about 100 meters long.
The main hall is housed within a building that combines a worship hall and a roofed structure, featuring a two-bay nagare-zukuri style.
The carvings and panels of the main hall retain traces of gofun and bengara colors, suggesting it was once vividly decorated.

The decorations include peony carvings on the koryo-style head beams, peach carvings on the side panels, and chrysanthemum and peony carvings on the side kenmotsu beams, with triple oak leaf carvings on the front and back panels.
These features indicate it is a mid-Edo period construction.
The characteristics suggest it was built by local craftsmen from Nakano and Iiyama, reflecting the historical connections between Akaiwa and Iiyama.
