Minakata jinja

Minakata Shrine, the guardian shrine of the former Sōzan Village, is said to have been established by enshrining the deities from Suwa Shrine. Located in a quiet village surrounded by mountains, it has historical significance, with a letter from Ōkubo Nagayasu dated 1604 indicating its existence in the medieval period.

Facing a residential house, the shrine is accessed via stone steps leading up to a torii gate. Another set of steps with two onbashira pillars leads to the shrine building. The main hall is a small, thatched-roof nagare-zukuri structure housed within a protective building. Though the interior is not accessible, the columns and beams are decorated with colors.
