十二神社
5919 Nakata, Kinan, Nagano City
Juni Shrine, located along the road from the former Kinan Village to Togakushi, is known for the legend of the "Boat-Mooring Tree."
According to the legend, in ancient times when Kinan was a lake, people would cross by boat from the Iizuna Shrine on the opposite shore to this shrine.
The Ryobu Torii gate at the entrance is also known as the "Wave-Blocking Torii," indicating a water-related origin despite the shrine being located in a mountainous area.
The shrine building consists of the worship hall and the main hall enclosed behind it.
Normally, the architecture of the main hall is not visible, but it features the nagare-zukuri style often seen.
It was built in the mid-Edo period and is designated as a cultural property of Nagano City.
