一川谷大元神社
Nakamura, Kijimadaira Village, Shimotakai District
An ancient shrine enshrining Takeminakata no Mikoto, surrounded by a grove of cedars within the village.
The main hall, enclosed by a covering, is estimated to have been built in 1661.
The architectural style features elephant-shaped noses on the rainbow beams, and elaborately carved frog-leg struts.
Keyaki wood, brown-painted structural members, and black-painted eaves boards, with vividly colored carvings, are characteristic of mid-Edo period shrines in the region.
