須々岐水神社
59 Yashiro,Chikuma City
Susu Misui Shrine is located near Shinano Railway Yashiro Station in Chikuma City. Dedicated to the guardian deities of the area, the shrine was relocated to its current site in 1645 and renamed in 1781. Though it appears modern with its large torii gate facing a major road, the main hall features intricate carvings by Tachikawa Tomimasa, who also worked on the Tamamushi Shrine. The main hall showcases beautiful sculptures, including parent-child lions on the central transom and lion heads on the wooden brackets.
Behind the visible front shrine stands the larger main hall, attributed to Tachikawa Tomimasa, who also rebuilt it during his stay for another project.
The Tachikawa School is known for its intricate and beautiful carvings, as seen in Suwa Taisha and Tamamushi Shrine. Susu Misui Shrine's main hall features carvings of parent-child lions on the central transom and lion heads on the wooden brackets.
