Mount Oyama Summit
Mount Oyama, counted among Japan's three sacred mountains, hosts Oyama Shrine's summit shrine.
At the base of the mountain are two shrines, Maedate-sha and Chugu Prayer Shrine, which together with the summit shrine are enshrined as one unified shrine.
The summit of Mount Oyama, located within the Tateyama Range, stands at an altitude of 3,003 meters and is one of Japan's most popular mountains, attracting many climbers.
Beyond the shrine office stands a wooden Myojin Torii gate, and up a narrow stone stairway, the shrine building is perched, visited by climbers paying their respects.
As a syncretic Shinto-Buddhist shrine, it enjoys strong reverence from the Imperial family and related entities.
