駒ヶ岳神社
Summit of Kai Komagatake
This shrine is located just below the summit of Kai Komagatake, the tallest of all the Komagatake peaks across Japan.
There are two starting points for climbing the mountain, both situated in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture.
Near the summit, the landscape of white granite, with scattered, rounded boulders on sandy ground, creates a unique and mystical atmosphere.
Several stone statues and monuments have been erected along the Kuroto Ridge on the Yamanashi side of the mountain.
At Fudo Rock on the Nagano side's climbing route, at the sixth station, the mountain-opening ascetic, Kouhata Gyōja, enshrined Daikaisan Iryoku Daisho Fudo Myo-o.
The shrine at the summit is constructed of white stone, with a lattice door at the front, and straw sandals hanging from it.
Various stone monuments stand around it, and additional stone markers can be found in the nearby rocky outcrops.
About five minutes down from the summit, a stone pillar inscribed with "Okuninushi no Mikoto" stands next to a stone chamber-like shrine marked as the main shrine.
The door features the Takeda family crest, and the roof is a simple gabled style.
About 20 minutes further down from the summit, at the Marishiten Peak, there is a stone statue, a monument, and a small shrine, offering a perfect viewpoint of the summit.
