伊那駒ヶ嶽神社
Summit of Mount Kiso-Komagatake
One of two shrine buildings located at the summit of Komagatake, the highest peak in the Kiso mountain range of the Central Alps.
The two shrines are known as Kiso Komagatake Shrine on the Kiso side and Ina Komagatake Shrine on the Ina side.
The shrine was founded in 1338 by Takatō Ieyoshi, enshrining the Eight Gods. In 1532, Tokuhara Nagadaibu Haruyasu of Agematsu Town in Kiso built Komagatake Shrine.
There are climbing routes from the Miyata Village side of Ina Valley and from the Kiso Valley side. The Kiso side has a deep tradition of mountain worship, with many remaining structures.
The architectural style is *sangensha nagare-zukuri*.
Many climbers stop to pay their respects as a part of their ascent.
