Hakusan jinja okumiya

Located at the summit of Mount Hakusan, which straddles Ishikawa and Gifu prefectures at an elevation of 2,702 meters.
On the highest peak of Mount Hakusan, called Gozengamine, stands a shrine built in the "Ichimonsha Nagare-zukuri" architectural style, while at Murodo-daira, there is a prayer hall positioned to gaze up at Gozenmine.

Known as the head shrine of the approximately 20,000 Hakusan Shrines across Japan, the expansive precincts of the shrine cover a vast area of 3,000 hectares on the mountain.

The Oku-no-miya (inner shrine) was founded in 718.
It has been revered as a spiritual site for mountain ascetic training and the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism.
The current shrine building, reconstructed in 1988, faces west and overlooks Ishikawa and Fukui prefectures.
