Otomo jinja

A shrine dedicated to the ancestral deity of the Otomo clan, located in Mochizuki-juku on the Nakasendo.
Currently situated in the center of the former Mochizuki Town, now merged into Saku City, the area is surrounded by charming buildings.
The entrance torii is a wooden Myojin torii.
A framed plaque reading "Ontake-gu Otomo-no-miya" is displayed, with a stone-paved approach continuing beyond it.

The worship hall has a large gabled roof.
A thick, impressive beam is visible at the front, and behind the building is a protective structure enclosing the main hall. The spacious main hall, a three-bay structure, is made entirely of unfinished keyaki wood with no coloring.
The architectural elements of the main hall include omitted center members, projecting bracket arms with fist-shaped noses, and Zen-style extended bracket arms on the rainbow beam, giving it a Zen-like appearance.
The rafters have a significant curve, and the shapes of the rainbow beam and bracket arms retain techniques from the Muromachi period.
