若宮八幡神社

The Wakamiya Hachiman Shrine, located just outside the residential area of Iwamurada in central Saku City, is surrounded by a sacred grove.
It is said that in 1202, the Oi clan, who ruled this area, established the shrine by transferring the deity from Tsurugaoka Hachimangu.
From the entrance marked by a wooden Ryobu Torii, the shrine grounds are partly used as a park, and the Haiden with a gabled roof stands directly in front of the approach.
The style of Haiden varies by region. In the Saku area, Haiden often features Karahafu (cusped gables), but at Wakamiya Hachiman Shrine, the roof extends directly over the entrance as a simple eave.
Enshrined as auxiliary shrines are the Empress Jingu Shrine/Seihachiman Shrine and the Gion Tenno Shrine/Tenmantenno Shrine.
The two auxiliary shrines are positioned side by side, with the Empress Jingu Shrine/Seihachiman Shrine on the left and the Gion Tenno Shrine/Tenmantenno Shrine on the right.
Both were built during the Edo period.
The main hall is a large-scale building with a three-bay nagare-zukuri style, having a frontage of nearly 4 meters, built on a stone foundation.
The nageshi beam is adorned with intricately carved bamboo and camellia motifs.
The gable decoration features rainbow beam okabe-zuka with okabe-zuka supports adorned with decorative wood noses.
The balustrade surrounding the front and sides is fitted with giboshi (decorative tops), and the side panels are decorated with carvings of phoenixes and other motifs.
