Many Suwa Shrines are built in Komoro City.
Among them, the Suwa Shrine in the Kashiwagi district is an Edo period late construction.
The entire district slopes from Mount Asama to Sakudaira, with fields surrounding it, and the Kashiwagi settlement lies below the shrine.
A torii gate is visible from the road heading west from Komoro City towards Karuizawa, followed by a second torii gate. In front of the shrine grounds stands the worship hall, with auxiliary and subsidiary shrines enclosed by a shelter on the left.
All are made of plain wood in the nagare-zukuri style, suggesting that the main hall of this Suwa Shrine also employs the one-bay nagare-zukuri style common in Nagano Prefecture.
The main shrine is connected to the worship hall and surrounded by a sacred fence, further covered by a shelter.
Iron barbed wire on the sacred fence prevents peeking, but the overall scale of the building suggests that the main shrine is not large.
It is a one-bay nagare-zukuri structure built in the late Edo period.
