千見神明宮

Shimmei Shrine, located in Senami District of former Miasa Village, now part of Omachi City, stands along the Olympic Road from Nagano City to Hakuba. The shrine is nestled between mountains, giving it the appearance of a guardian shrine for the local community.
It is said that Senami Shimmei Shrine was enshrined from Ise in 724 and has been revered ever since. The shrine, also known as Sakai-no-miya Shimmei due to its location near the borders of Azumi, Minochi, and Sarashina districts, features a steep stone staircase leading up to the shrine buildings.
While not elaborately decorated, the shrine's plaque stands out. Made entirely of coins, it forms the letters of "Shimmei Shrine," reflecting the community's devotion and protection of their local deity.
The main hall, located behind the worship hall within a protective structure, is a one-bay Shimmei-zukuri style building. Its black-painted walls and simple construction are particularly striking.
