下生坂八幡社
8293 Shimoikusaka, Ikusaka Village, Higashichikuma District
Located on the southern side of Ikusaka Village, along the national highway, is Shimoikusaka Hachiman Shrine. Records indicate it was once called Shinmeigu during the Edo period but was later renamed. A faded red ryobu torii stands at the entrance, leading to a small gabled worship hall.
The shrine and its grounds are small, with only a few cedar trees. The main hall behind the worship hall is a simple one-room nagare-zukuri structure, painted a striking red and dating back to the mid-Edo period.
The main hall features a high foundation and red-painted elements, contrasting with its otherwise plain design, lacking notable carvings or side panels.
