大宮神明社
Mikkaichiba, Kamishiro, Hakuba Village, Kitaazumi District
In the corner of a village facing the mountainside, a torii gate stands at the entrance to Shinmei Shrine.
Surrounded by many deep cedars, the shrine is located up a steep gravel path.
The torii gate, adorned with a shimenawa rope, signifies the enshrinement of Amaterasu Omikami.
The main hall is housed within a covering structure, featuring a shinmei-zukuri style with a gabled roof and flat entrance, built by the Kanbara family.
Inside the covering structure, alongside Shinmei Shrine, are the Suwa Shrine and Hachiman Shrine.
Suwa Shrine, like Shinmei Shrine, was built by the Kanbara family in the early Momoyama period.
The Suwa Shrine is a slightly smaller nagare-zukuri style, differing from the shinmei-zukuri style of the Shinmei Shrine.
