雨降宮嶺方諏訪神社
23622 Hokujō, Hakuba, Kitaazumi District, Nagano Prefecture
The shrine is located next to the slopes of Hakuba Minekata Ski Resort, east of central Hakuba Village. It is dedicated as the guardian deity of the former Minekata Village, surrounded by a sacred grove of ancient cedars, including one estimated to be 1,000 years old. The open space in front of the worship hall is brightened by sunlight streaming through the trees.
It is said that during the Yōrō era, rainmaking rituals were performed at this site, leading to its name, Amagoi Shrine. Nearby, there is another shrine called Shimogori Shrine, indicating that there are several such shrines within Hakuba Village.
