霜降宮細野諏訪神社
5143 Happo, Hokujō, Hakuba Village, Kitaazumi District
Located just below Happoone Ski Resort, this Suwa Shrine is set in a bustling area with souvenir shops and inns. A large cedar forest surrounds the shrine buildings. The first torii gate stands by the road, leading to a 100-meter path. The second torii is within the forested shrine grounds, both being Myojin-style gates commonly seen at Suwa shrines.
An 800-year-old cedar tree, formerly a designated natural monument of Nagano Prefecture, stands prominently within the shrine grounds in front of the steps leading to the worship hall.
The shrine buildings include a gabled worship hall, an enclosure around the main hall, and an intermediary building. While it is common for the main hall to be directly behind the worship hall, the intermediary building's role is unclear but noticeable from the side.
This shrine, one of many Suwa shrines in Hakuba Village, stands out with its distinctive "降宮" name.
