吉野神社
Yoshino, Toyoshina, Azumino City
Yoshino Shrine is located in Minamihotaka, Azumino City, along the Chikuni Highway. Surrounded by the hustle and bustle of nearby schools and a train station, the shrine is nestled within a large grove. It is said that the shrine was relocated from an old shrine during the reconstruction of Hotaka Shrine, and it was noted in the "Hotaka Shrine Relocation Diary" that it was transferred to the then Yoshino Village for 9 ryō in 1769.
From the Myojin Torii gate at the entrance, a path through the thick grove leads to the worship hall, with a Sennin Stone placed in front.
The main hall behind the worship hall is an Ichimon-sha Nagare-zukuri style from the mid-Edo period. The front transom of the gabled porch features a hexagonal floral pattern in vivid colors, a unique characteristic not seen in other shrines. The porch columns are also relatively thick at 16.9 centimeters square. The stairs and lower platform retain their original form, though the front rafters and the front edges of the side verges have been replaced in later periods.
