本村神社
2277 Nishihara, Toyoshina, Azumino City
Located along the Chikuni Kaido, which continues from Matsumoto to Itoigawa, in Minami-Toyoshina.
There is no torii gate in the shrine grounds, and there is a sando stone embedded in front of the worship hall.
The worship hall is a gabled structure with the entrance at the gable end.
Since worship halls with entrances on the long side are common in the Azumino area, those with entrances at the gable end are rare.
The main shrine, built behind the worship hall, is said to have been decommissioned from Hotaka Shrine during its reconstruction.
Built in 1729, it is a one-bay nagare-zukuri style.
A distinguishing feature is the boat elbow wood under the gable side's rainbow beam, which has ends shaped like fist noses, and the application of saucer-shaped brackets in the front eaves.
It is said that the carvings on the toad leg and hand clamp were made during the Kansei era, when it was relocated.
