穂高造
An architectural style based on the *Nagare-zukuri*, distinguished by the unique placement of *katsuogi* (decorative roof logs).
Typically, *katsuogi* are positioned perpendicular to the roof ridge, but in the *Hotaka-zukuri* style, two *katsuogi* are aligned parallel to the ridge and lean against the *chigi* (forked ornaments) erected on the gable ends.
At Hotaka Shrine, which enshrines deities associated with the sea, this arrangement is believed to symbolize fishing rods or boats resting by the water's edge.
