祇園造
The *Yasaka-zukuri* is an architectural style unique to Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto's Gion district. Typically, the main hall (*honden*) and worship hall (*haiden*) are separate buildings, but in this style, they are covered under a single large roof.
It is considered the closest to Buddhist temple architecture within Shinto shrine designs.
The only existing example at Yasaka Shrine features a hip-and-gable roof (*irimoya-zukuri*) with a front-facing entrance, spanning 5 bays in length and 2 bays in width, with an extended eave (*hisashi*) and an ornamental gable roof (*karahafu*) at the entrance, all topped with a cypress bark roof.
